BoldAge PACE, a national provider of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), has launched The Bold Way Home, a new podcast series that puts older adults’ voices at the center of the conversation about aging in America.

Each episode features a BoldAge PACE participant reflecting, in their own words, on the moments that led them to PACE and how coordinated care has changed their day-to-day lives. Every voice in the series belongs to a real participant.

The debut episode introduces Catherine, a participant at the BoldAge PACE center in Oceanport, New Jersey. After the loss of her partner and years of living with chronic pain, Catherine found BoldAge PACE through a conversation with a neighbor. Today, she is celebrating holidays with her family again and living what she describes as a fuller life than she thought possible.

A Growing Need for Coordinated Care at Home

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, more than half of Americans turning 65 will need long-term care in their lifetime. AARP research finds that the majority of older adults want to remain in their own homes as they age, though many are unsure how they will do so. Families often step in to fill the gaps in professional support, and the emotional and physical demands on caregivers continue to rise.

The PACE model was designed to meet that need. Funded through Medicare and/or Medicaid, PACE delivers complete, coordinated care through a single team of doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, drivers, and support staff. BoldAge PACE currently operates centers in California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, Ohio, and South Carolina, with additional centers in development.
